A Lake County woman is suing a Skokie salon after she said a hair straightening treatment caused her to lose her hair.
Sonia Evans filed a complaint on May 13 in Cook County Circuit Court against Jacklin Namroud, doing business as Gigi's Coiffure.
On May 12, 2014, the lawsuit states, Evans was at Gigi's, where she purchased a hair straightening treatment. The salon's employees allegedly were negligent in performing the treatment, and the plaintiff lost her hair, which hasn't grown back to its original length.
The defendant and salon staff allegedly were negligent when they failed to select the right hair treatment; perform a patch test to see if the treatment would cause the plaintiff injury; apply the treatment correctly; remove excess solution from her hair; and warn her that the products could cause adverse reactions.
The plaintiff, alleging negligence, seeks damages of more than $30,000, plus costs.
The plaintiff is represented by Chelsey R. Robinson, of Owens and Robinson in Chicago.
