A Cook County woman is suing Ridgeview Rehab and Nursing Center over claims they violated the Illinois Nursing Home Care Act.
Mary Ann Montano, through her next friend Rosida Bachan, filed a lawsuit Aug. 5 in the Circuit Court of Cook County against Ridgeview Rehab and Nursing Center, a division of Ridgeview Rehab and Nursing Center LLC and Stay Care Management LTD, citing negligence.
According to the claim, Ridgeview Rehab and Nursing Center practiced careless judgment while caring for Montano, knowing that she was at high risk for decubitus ulcers when she developed a stage IV sacral decubitus ulcer on Oct. 3, 2014.
Montano contracted MRSA in her aforementioned decubitus ulcer while in the care of Ridgeview Rehab and Nursing Center, which prompted her to undergo sharp excisional debridement on Nov. 14, 2014, according to the claim.
Montano is seeking in excess of $50,000 plus the costs of the suit for Ridgeview Rehab and Nursing Center’s failure to not properly diagnose her condition of decubitus ulcers and prevent them from deteriorating.
She is being represented by Hurley, McKenna and Mertz P.C. in Chicago.
