Paula Cross of McHenry County is suing over claims that she was injured at the entrance of an Illinois-based Walmart store.
Cross filed a lawsuit Aug.10 in Cook County Circuit Court against Wal-Mart Stores Inc., citing negligence.
According to the claim, Cross was about to legally shop at a Walmart retail store, located at 3801 Running Brook Farms Blvd. in the village of Johnsburg on Jan. 10, 2014, at 2:30 p.m. when she slipped and fell on a temporary floor mat – compromised of a carpet-like top and a plastic rubber backing – causing her to incur injuries, including a torn rotator cuff and detached bicep, which has caused her to suffer pain and discomfort.
Citing Wal-Mart Stores Inc. for negligence for failing to secure the mat, allowing it to remain unsuitable for foot traffic because it was folded, failing to provide warning to customers and more, Cross is seeking damages in excess of $100,000 and that which would compensate her reasonably and fairly for her injuries, the claim states.
She is being represented by Joseph M. Lucas & Associates, in Barrington.
