Mo Ching Mack, as special administrator of the estate of Wai Mack (deceased), filed a lawsuit Aug. 18, in Cook County Circuit Court against Hawthorne Race Course Inc., alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, on Aug. 1, Wai Mack was struck by a moving vehicle while standing in the parking lot of Hawthorne Race Course in Cicero. The accident caused Wai Mack to suffer external and internal injuries to his body that, ultimately, killed him, the lawsuit states.

The suit says Hawthorne failed to properly exercise safety around its premises.
