A Cook County woman is suing her doctors, a nurse and the hospital where she gave birth, alleging negligence related to her daughter’s birth injuries.

Ashley Riley filed a lawsuit Aug. 3 in Cook County Circuit Court defendant, Little Company of Mary Hospitals and Healthcare Centers Inc., doing business as Little Company of Mary Hospital, Dr. Lisa Jackson, Dr. Emuata Bassey and nurse Kelly Harrison, alleging negligence during the birth of her daughter left the child with brain damage.

According to the complaint, on Dec. 5, 2008, Riley gave birth to Amiya Jackson at Little Company of Mary Hospital in Evergreen Park. During the delivery, the suit says, the daughter suffered hypoxia, ischemia and asphyxia due to the defendant’s negligence. These injuries left Amiya with severe and permanent brain damage and other injuries, the suit says.

Riley seeks more than $50,000 in damages, plus court costs. She is represented by attorneys Margaret P. Battersby Black, Jaime A. Koziol and Ashley H. Herschberger of Levin & Perconti in Chicago.

Cook County Circuit Court case number 2015-L-007899.
