Stalexius

A Cook County man is suing over claims he was mistreated by two physicians of St. Alexius Medical Center.

William O’Brien, along with Susan O’Brien, filed a lawsuit Aug. 25 in the Cook County Circuit Court against John McConnell, D.O. and Jitendra Patel, M.D. in conjunction with St. Alexius Medical Center, a division of Alexian Brothers Health System, citing negligence and loss of consortium.

According to the claim, William O’Brien suffered medical malpractice while in the care of Dr. McConnell and Dr. Patel when he sustained severe and permanent injury after not being tested and treated for pulmonary hypertension and embolism on April 11, 2010, at St. Alexius Medical Center.

William O’Brien, along with Susan O’Brien, is seeking damages of more than $50,000 against both doctors and the aforementioned hospital groups for their negligence to not properly diagnose him, the claim states.

He is being represented by John J. MacInerney of Hofeld and Schaffner in Chicago.
