Customer sues Dollar Tree over alleged injuries after tripping over hand cart

A  woman is suing over claims she was injured in the aisles of a Dollar Tree store.

Stella Kozyra filed a lawsuit Aug. 27 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Dollar Tree Stores Inc., citing negligence.

According to the claim, Kozyra was legally shopping at a Dollar Tree Store, located at 3620 E. 118th St., Chicago on April 10 when she tripped and fell on a hand cart on the floor near where the hand carts are kept, which resulted in her sustaining severe and permanent injuries, including fractured ribs, a compression fracture at T-12, a concussion and pneumonia.

Kozyra is seeking damages of more than $30,000 plus costs for the Dollar Tree’s negligence to not further secure its area where the hand carts are kept, upon where Kozyra fell and incurred injury, the claim states.

She is being represented by Philip J. Farina of the Law Office of Philip J. Farina and John E. Marszalek of Marszalek & Marszalek, both in Chicago.
