Man sues two nursing homes for alleged negligence under the Nursing Home Care Act

Nursing home accident

A former resident is suing two Chicago-area nursing homes for alleged violations under the Nursing Home Care Act.

John Taylor filed suit Aug. 24 in Cook County Circuit Court, Law Division, against the defendants Continental Nursing and Rehabilitation Center LLC and Clark Manor Convalescent Center Inc. alleging negligence leading to the development and worsening of pressure ulcers.

According to the complaint, Taylor was admitted to Continental (July 19, 2013, to Jan. 13, 2014) and Clark Manor (Jan. 24. to May 9, 2014) for nursing and rehabilitative care. During his stays at both facilities, Taylor alleges he developed pressure ulcers because of the defendants’ negligence. The sores left him with pain and suffering, disability and disfigurement, and medical expenses.

Attorney Bella Feinstein of the Law Offices of Steven J. Malman & Associates P.C., a Chicago firm, is representing the plaintiff, who is seeking damages of more than $50,000, plus court costs, and any additional amount allowed under the statute. The suit is also requesting a jury trial.

Cook County Circuit Court, Law Division case number 2015-L-008641.
