A man is suing a nursing home for alleged wrongful death his 86-year-old father.

Edward Feuling, independent administrator of the estate of Laverne Feuling, filed a lawsuit Sept. 18 in Cook County Circuit Court against the following defendants: Manorcare Northbrook Illinois, also known as Manorcare Health Services – Northbrook and doing business as Manorcare of Northbrook; HCR Manorcare; Heartland Employment Services; Glenview Terrace Nursing Center; JLR Financial Services Corp., also known as JLR Management Corp.

According to the complaint, Laverne Feuling was a resident of Manorcare from Oct. 28 through Dec. 5, 2013. Because of his existing illness, the suit says he required assistance with daily living, including regular turning and repositioning to avoid skin breakdown. Allegedly while he lived at the facility, he developed pressure sores that became infected and required hospitalization and surgical treatment. The suit says these wounds contributed to his death Dec. 27, 2013.

Edward Feuling is seeking damages of more than $50,000. He is being represented by attorneys Susan L. Novosad and Nicole T. Schroeder of the Chicago law firm Levin & Perconti.
