A Cook County woman is suing a Hinsdale hospital, alleging neglect in the death of a 72-year-old man.

Irene Gajc, independent executor of the estate of Richard Gajc, filed a lawsuit Oct. 7 in Cook County Circuit Court against Manorcare of Hinsdale Illinois, doing business as Manorcare Health Services of Hinsdale, Manorcare Health Services doing business as HCR Manorcare Health Services, nurse Karen Mitchener and Adventist Midwest Health doing business as Adventist Hinsdale Hospital. Named as respondent in discovery was Elmhurst Memorial Hospital.

According to the complaint, Richard Gajc was a resident of Manorcare between Nov. 14-Dec. 21, 2013, with intermittent hospitalizations. Gajc’s condition, the suit says, required assistance with turning to avoid skin breakdown. While he lived at Manorcare, Gajc developed multiple worsening pressure sores in the sacral area, the lawsuit states and the defendants' neglect caused Gajc’s injuries and death.

Irene Gajc seeks damages of more than $50,000, plus legal costs. She is represented by attorneys Jordan S. Powell and Bradley S. Thomas of Levin & Perconti in Chicago.

Cook County Circuit Court case number 2015-L-010240.
