A Cook County man is suing a South Holland nursing home, alleging negligence in the death of his 76-year-old father.

Emmitt Beard, independent executor of the estate of Earl P. Beard Sr., filed a lawsuit Sept. 9 in Cook County Circuit Court against The Villa at South Holland, Villa Healthcare Management Inc. doing business as Villa Healthcare, Platinum Asset Management Inc. and registered nurse Richard Rellora.

According to the complaint, Earl Beard Sr. developed multiple pressure sores while he was a resident of The Villa in September-October 2013. These injuries, the suit says, persisted until his death April 17, 2014, causing pain and suffering, disability and disfigurement, and medical expenses.

According to the plaintiff, these injuries were caused by the defendants’ negligence.

Beard seeks damages of more than $50,000, plus litigation costs. He is represented by attorney Michelle L. Wesley of Levin & Perconti in Chicago.

Cook County Circuit Court case number 2015-L-009242.
