A Cook County woman is suing a nursing home, alleging wrongful death in a case involving her 85-year-old father.

Joanna Newton, independent administrator of the estate of William Jackson, filed a lawsuit Oct. 13 in Cook County Circuit Court against Manorcare of Palos Heights Illinois doing business as Manorcare Health Services–Palos Heights East, Manorcare Health Services doing business as HCR Manorcare Health Services, Heartland Employment Services and registered nurse Karen Harvey.

According to the complaint, Jackson was a resident of Manorcare from Oct. 31-Nov. 28, 2013. During that time, the suit says he sustained several falls, broken ribs and developed pressure sores.

Newton seeks damages of more than $50,000. She is represented by attorneys Ashley M. Herschberger and Michael L. Shanahan of Levin & Perconti in Chicago.
