Couple alleges eye doctor's negligence to blame for visual impairment

CHICAGO — A Cook County couple is suing an ophthalmologist, alleging her negligence resulted in ongoing visual impairment for the wife. 

Jae Hui Doshier and Richard Doshier filed a lawsuit against Dr. Tamara Fountain in Cook County Circuit Court on Oct. 13, alleging that she committed medical malpractice in failing to properly treat a nasolacrial duct obstruction in Jae Hui's eight eye.

The suit alleges that Fountain operated on Jae Hui's eye on Dec. 11, 2013, but failed to properly remove a corneal shield in a timely manner; failed to properly examine's the patient's eye before discharge; failed to schedule a timely post-op examination; and failed to properly examine her eye again after receiving complaints of obstructed vision and an abnormal appearance.

The couple is seeking damages in excess of $50,000. They are represented by J. Matthew Dudley of Dudley & Lake LLC in Libertyville, Illinois.
