A Cook County man is suing a nursing home and other health care providers, alleging neglect caused his father's death.

Kirk Bell, independent administrator of the estate of Arleigh Bell, filed a lawsuit Oct. 19 in Cook County Circuit Court against Chevy Chase Corp. doing business as Bronzeville Park Nursing & Living Center, NuCare Services Corp., doing business as NuCare Financial Services Corp., and two licensed practical nurses, Melinda Lewis and Tameasha Thornton.

According to the complaint, while Arleigh Bell, 84, was a resident of Bronzeville Park between Oct. 8-Nov. 12, 2013, he developed pressure sores in various areas. One of the sores became infected, requiring hospitalization and surgical debridement, and contributed to his death Jan. 20, 2014, the suit says.

Bell seeks damages of more than $50,000. He is represented by attorneys Jordan S. Powell and Mary K. Volk of Levin & Perconti in Chicago.
