A Cook County man is suing Blue Island and Alsip, alleging malpractice and wrongful death in a dispute involving their emergency medical responders.
Michael Ligue, independent administrator of the estate of Kristi Embury, filed a lawsuit Oct. 20 in Cook County Circuit Court against the city of Blue Island and the village of Aslip.
According to the complaint, on May 11, paramedics from both Blue Island Aslip were dispatched to Embury’s home, where she was complaining of shortness of breath and chest pain. The suit says both EMS teams delayed treatment and failed to provide basic life support measures, including resuscitation. Embury died from cardiac arrest the same day.
Ligue seeks damages of more than $50,000. He is represented by attorney Edward M. Rubin of Rubin, Machado & Rosenblum in Chicago.
