Daughter sues Advocate Medical, alleging mistake in mother's surgery

Medicalmalpractice

A Cook County woman is suing her deceased mother’s health-care providers, alleging wrongful death.

Denise Campbell, independent executor of the estate of Isabelle Raisin, filed a lawsuit Oct. 13 in Cook County Circuit court against Dr. Eric Swenson, Advocate Health and Hospitals Corp., doing business as Advocate Medical Group, and Advocate Health and Hospitals doing business as Advocate South Suburban Hospital in Hazel Crest.

According to the complaint, Isabelle Raisin’s death Sept. 9, 2014, was brought about by a surgical error that occurred during Dr. Swenson’s operation on Raisin the previous month. Although Swenson made one attempt to repair the mistake, the injury persisted, the suit says.

The lawsuit states the defendant failed to schedule surgery to treat Raisin’s condition.

Campbell seeks damages off more than $50,000, plus court costs. She is represented by attorney Bradley Z. Schulman of Motherway & Napleton in Chicago.

Cook County Circuit Court case number 2015-L-010406.
