A Cook County woman is suing a Chicago nightclub and its security firm, alleging wrongful death and negligence.

Janice Bradley, special administrator of the estate of Elijah Moore, filed a lawsuit Aug. 26 in Cook County Circuit Court against Green Dolphin Inc. doing business as Dolphin, and an unknown security company.

According to the complaint, on March 16, Moore was a patron of Dolphin, 2220 N. Ashland Ave., Chicago, when a brawl broke out inside the club around 3 a.m. After Dolphin’s security team ordered Moore and other patrons to leave the bar, the suit says an unknown assailant fired a gun into the crowd outside, fatally wounding Moore.

The suit accuses Dolphin’s of failing to secure their premises and of serving the alcohol that helped cause the shooting.

Bradley seeks a jury trial and damages of more than $50,000, plus legal costs. She is represented by attorney Ronak Maisuria of Erickson & Oppenheimer in Chicago.

Cook County Circuit Court case number 2015-L-008739.
