Daughter accuses Alden Park of negligence in death of 70-year-old mother

CHICAGO–A Cook County woman is suing her mother’s nursing caregivers, alleging negligence and wrongful death.

Jill Stone, independent administrator of the estate of Alice L. Olson, filed a lawsuit Nov. 30 in Cook County Circuit Court against Alden-Park Strathmoor Inc., doing business as Alden Park Strathmoor, Alden Management Services Inc., Prism Health Care Services Inc. and registered nurse Cynthia Jones.

According to the complaint, Olsen lived at Alden Park in Rockford from April 19, 2011-March 21, 2014, where she required assistance with daily living activities. The suit says Olsen suffered from dehydration, malnutrition, weight loss, urinary tract infections and other illnesses during her residency.

After developing acute renal failure and septic shock March 21, 2014, the lawsuit states Olsen was sent to St. Anthony Medical Center, where died March 22, 2014.

Stone seeks damages in of more than $50,000. She is represented by attorneys Michelle L. Wesley and Michael F. Bonamarte of Levin & Perconti in Chicago.
