CHICAGO–A Cook County woman is suing an Elgin nursing home, alleging negligence in treating her disabled 23-year-old son.

Chana Russell, as plenary guardian of the estate and person of Devon Brown, filed a lawsuit Nov. 30 in Cook County Circuit Court against Little Angels Inc. doing business as Little Angels Nursing Home, alleging negligence and personal injury liability.

According to the complaint, Brown became a rehab patient at Little Angels in Elgin on Sept. 19, 2014. The suit says when staff members tried to reinsert his gastronomy tube after it became dislodged Feb. 28, 2015, they injured his lungs and chest cavity. These injuries, the suit states, led to a deterioration in Brown’s overall condition.

Russell seeks damages of more than $50,000, including compensation for Brown's pain and suffering, disability and disfigurement, and medical and related expenses. She is represented by attorney Bella Feinstein of the Law Offices of Steven J. Malman & Associates in Chicago.

Cook County Circuit Court Case number 2015-L012093.
