Chicago woman accuses Forest Edge of negligence

Mental health

CHICAGO – A Cook County woman is suing a nursing home for allegedly providing her with inadequate mental health care.

Virginia Hill filed a lawsuit on Nov. 25 in Cook County Circuit Court against Forest Edge Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center, also known as Bria Health Services of Forest Edge, citing negligence.

According to the complaint, Hill was given anti-psychotic, anti-anxiety and antidepressant medications while she was a resident of the facility. On Dec. 4, 2013, the suit says Hill left the facility and was found by Chicago police in a shelter nearly two weeks later. The lawsuit blames the defendant for injuries including her hallucinations; deterioration of physical, mental and psychosocial well-being; and pneumonia.

Hill seeks damages in excess of $50,000, plus litigation costs. She is represented by attorneys Steven M. Levin and Michael Shanahan of Levin & Perconti in Chicago.
