Daughter blames Kindred Northlake for father’s death

1824

CHICAGO–A Cook County woman is suing a Northlake hospital, alleging it allowed her father’s breathing tube to become clogged, causing his death.

Katie Woods, independent administrator of the estate of John Woods, filed a lawsuit Nov. 24 in Cook County Circuit Court against THC-Chicago Inc., doing business as Kindred Hospital-Northlake, alleging incompetence and medical malpractice. Dr. David You is named as a respondent in discovery.

According to the complaint, Kindred's nursing staff failed to properly monitor John Woods when he was a patient between Nov. 19-24, 2013. The suit blames Kindred for hiring nurses and assistants who provided Woods with inadequate care.

John Woods died Nov. 24, 2013.

Woods seeks a jury trial and damages of more than $50,000. She is represented by attorneys Thomas G. Gardiner, John R. Wrona and Micah J. Hughes of Gardiner Koch Weisberg & Wrona in Chicago.

Cook County Circuit Court Case number 2015-L012014.
