Elderly patient alleges Hanover Park nursing home caused her broken leg

Broken leg

CHICAGO – A Cook County woman is suing a Hanover Park nursing home, alleging negligence caused her to break her leg.

Patricia Lopez filed a lawsuit Dec. 14 in Cook County Circuit Court against Church Street Station Skilled Nursing Home and Living Center LLC, doing business as Claremont-Hanover Park, alleging liability for personal injury and violations of the Illinois Nursing Home Care Act.

According to the complaint, on Aug. 27 Lopez’s right leg was caught in her wheelchair as she was been wheeled from the shower, which caused a fracture of her right femur. The suit blames worker carelessness for the injury.

Lopez seeks damages of more than the minimum jurisdictional amount of $50,000. She is represented by attorney Mitchell S. Lipkin of Lipkin & Higgins in Chicago.
