Wife alleges deceased friend's speeding caused husband’s crash death

Speed chase

CHICAGO – A Cook County woman is suing the estate of her husband’s friend, alleging the friend’s reckless driving caused the accident that killed them both.

Joyce A. Baxter, administrator of the estate of John Douglas Baxter Jr., filed a lawsuit Dec. 22 in Cook County Circuit Court against the estate of Blake C. Bishop and Semersky Enterprises Inc., doing business as The Audi Exchange.

According to the complaint, on Oct. 17, Bishop was driving a 2014 Audi RS owned by Semersky Enterprises in Lake in the Hills when he lost control of the car while speeding. The car flipped, the suit says, crushing Baxter in the wreckage. He died that day of his injuries.

Joyce Baxter seeks a jury trial and damages of more than $100,000. She is represented by attorney R. Steven Polachek of Polacheck & Polachek in Barrington.
