Bus passenger blames CTA for causing his injuries

CHICAGO – A Chicago man is suing the CTA, alleging he was struck by a handicapped ramp while aboard a CTA bus.

Jean De Savieu filed a lawsuit Dec. 22 in Cook County Circuit Court against the Chicago Transit Authority, alleging personal injury liability. 

According to the complaint, on Dec. 25, 2014, De Savieu boarded a CTA bus at the terminal at 79th Street and Western Avenue. After the bus took off, the suit says, the handicapped ramp struck De Savieu’s motorized scooter, throwing him to the floor

The lawsuit states the plaintiff suffered temporary and permanently disabling injuries to his head, body, mind, limbs and nervous system, as well as medical expenses.

De Savieu seeks damages of more than $50,000. He is representing himself in the case.
