Customer alleges slippery carpet at Orland Toyota caused injuries

Caution sign

CHICAGO – A Cook County woman is suing a Tinley Park car dealership after she says she slipped and fell on a slippery carpet at the dealer.

Anna Shaleva filed a lawsuit Dec. 18 in Cook County Circuit Court against Kowalis Motors Inc., doing business as Orland Toyota of Tinley Park, alleging negligence and premises liability.

According to the complaint, on Dec. 17, 2013, Shaleva was a guest on the Orland Toyota premises when she slipped and fell on a section of carpet that was saturated with water and she suffered injuries. The suit says Shaleva could not see the accumulated liquid, and that it was the defendant’s responsibility to maintain safe conditions at the dealership.

Shaleva seeks damages of $50,000 for her injuries, plus costs of the suit. She is represented by attorney John Vrdolyak of The Vrdolyak Law Group LLC in Chicago.
