Father blames city of Chicago for shooting unarmed 19-year-old son

Police

CHICAGO – A Cook County man is suing the city of Chicago, alleging his 19-year-old, unarmed son was shot multiple times by a Chicago police officer.

Antonio LeGrier, individually and as special administrator of the estate of Quintonio LeGrier, filed a lawsuit Dec. 28 in Cook County Circuit Court against the city of Chicago, alleging false arrest and wrongful death.

According to the complaint, on Dec. 26, Quintonio LeGrier, an engineering student at Northern Illinois University, was shot multiple times by a police officer in his Chicago home at 4710 W. Erie Ave. The suit says there was no probable cause to shoot LeGrier, who was unarmed and did nothing to provoke the shooting.

Antonio LeGrier says he discovered his son lying on the ground bleeding from the gunshot wound, but the lawsuit states he was not allowed to summon medical care because officers forced him to go to the station to give a statement.

LeGrier seeks a jury trial and damages of more than $50,000, plus litigation costs. He is represented by attorney Basileios J. Foutris of Foutris Law Office LTD in Chicago.
