CHICAGO – A Cook County couple is suing Panton Eye Center and two eye doctors, alleging their misdiagnosis of the wife's eye condition left permanent injury.

Mary Ellen Krezel and Robert J. Krezel filed a lawsuit on Dec. 29 in Cook County Circuit Court against Dr. Peter J. Panton and Dr. Robert W. Panton, individually and as agents of the third defendant, Panton Eye Center P.C., alleging medical malpractice.

According to the complaint, Mary Ellen Krezel sought treatment from the Panton Eye Center for pain and swelling of her left eye between Dec. 30, 2013 and March 30, 2015. The suit alleges the defendants misdiagnosed Krezel’s pain, eye swelling and corneal ulcers, including failing to run the proper tests and prescribe appropriate medication. Krezel claims she suffered permanent injuries from the misdiagnosis, as well as ongoing medical expenses.

The Krezels seek damages in excess of $50,000, plus litigation costs. They are represented by Rebecca Neubauer of Romanucci & Blandin of Chicago.
