Diner blames Shan Li’s Restaurant for slip-and-fall injuries

Caution sign

CHICAGO – A Cook County woman is suing an Aurora restaurant, alleging negligence for injuries she says she suffered by slipping and falling on a waterlogged floor mat.

Jasemine Robinson filed a lawsuit Jan. 4 in Cook County Circuit Court against Shan-Li’s Place Inc., doing business as Shan Li’s Restaurant, Pilarczyk Inc., and Matmasters USA Inc., doing business as Matmasters, alleging negligence and premises liability.

According to the complaint, on Feb. 6, 2014, Robinson entered Shan Li’s Restaurant in Aurora, when she slipped and fell on a soaked floor mat that had caused liquid to accumulate. The suit says the puddle was inconspicuous, and it was the defendant’s duty to provide safe premises for restaurant customers.

Robinson seeks damages of more than $50,000, plus litigation costs. She is represented by attorney John K. Vrdolyak of The Vrdolyak Law Group in Chicago.
