CHICAGO — A mother is suing a health care network, alleging her daughter was improperly diagnosed and underwent surgery that left her permanently injured.

Zanna Keivisa,  as mother and next friend of Evelina Keivisa filed a lawsuit Jan. 7 in Cook County Circuit Court against Dr. Lubov Klemine and Advocate Health Care Network, alleging negligence and medical malpractice.

According to the complaint, on Nov. 4, 2014, Keivisa's daughter underwent a right hip medial release proximal femoral osteotomy, blade plate fixation, and right Pemberton hip spica casting under the defendant’s care. The suit says Klemine failed to properly examine Evelina Keivisa's lower extremities, did not note preexisting abnormalities, and failed to refer her to a specialist.

As a result, the plaintiff alleges her daughter was left severely and permanently injured and disfigured from the surgery. Prior to the surgery, the complaint states, Evelina Keivisa had been a patient of the defendant from August 2011 until the time of the surgery. The plaintiff alleges Klemine had previously recognized a valgus deformity, which prompted him to order an orthopedic consultation.

Zanna Keivisa seeks compensation for injuries, losses, and damages for her daughter’s physical and mental suffering. She is represented by attorney Alexander M. Subhuman of Kralovec, Lambois, and Schwartz.
