CHICAGO – A Cook County man is suing Dunkin' Donuts, alleging a puddle of pooled water near the defendant's door caused him to slip and fall and suffer ongoing injuries.
Pablo Dominguez filed a lawsuit Jan. 7 in Cook County Circuit Court against NRN I Inc., doing business as Dunkin’ Donuts, alleging premises liability.
According to the complaint, on Jan, 7, 2014, Dominguez was attempting to enter the Dunkin' Donuts at South Kedzie Avenue, Chicago, when he slipped and fell on a puddle of water that had been allowed to pool near the store’s two front doors.
As a result, the suit says, the plaintiff suffered permanent injuries requiring large sums for medical treatment, surgery and nursing care, while being prevented from working and other normal activities.
Dominguez seeks damages of more than $50,000. He is represented by attorney Matthew B. Karchmar of Karchmar & Lambert PC in Chicago.
