Wife blames Roseland Community Hospital for husband’s worsening wounds

Hospital

CHICAGO – A Cook County woman is suing a Chicago hospital and one of its doctors, alleging they failed to keep him from developing skin wounds while he was their patient.

Pearlie Davis, special administrator of the estate of Porter Davis, filed a lawsuit Dec. 31 in Cook County Circuit Court against Roseland Community Hospital Association and Dr. Ahmed Shafi, alleging medical malpractice.

According to the complaint, while Porter Davis was a patient of the defendants between Nov. 14, 2013, and Feb. 23, 2014, he developed decubitus ulcers or pressure sores over significant portions of his anatomy. The suit says the wounds were a direct result of Roseland’s negligence to provide properly trained, experience staff to care for Davis while he was a patient. Porter Davis died soon after, the lawsuit states.

Pearlie Davis seeks damages of more than $50,000. She is represented by attorney Alexander McH. Memmen of The Memmen Law Firm LLC in Chicago.
