Diner blames Jameson’s Char House for injuries from fall

Caution sign

CHICAGO – A Cook County woman is suing an Arlington Heights restaurant, alleging she tripped and fell on a loose rug due to the owners’ negligence.

Roberta Strauss filed a lawsuit Jan. 8 in Cook County Circuit Court against Jameson’s Char House (or Jameson’s Charhouse), Prospect Restaurant & Bar Inc., Arlington Charhouse Inc., Angelos Bloomingdale LLC, Jameson’s Holding Corp., Dean Papadakis and John Skoubis, alleging premises liability.

According to the complaint, Strauss was a patron of Jameson’s Char House in Arlington Heights on May 9, 2015, when she tripped on a rug while crossing the dining area.

The suit says the defendants were responsible for creating a safe atmosphere for patrons and carelessly and negligently maintained the restaurant’s carpet and flooring. The plaintiff alleges that as a result of the fall, she suffered pain, disability and medical bills that are ongoing.

Strauss seeks damages of more than $50,000. She is represented by attorney James T. Newman of Cooney and Conway in Chicago.
