CHICAGO – A Cook County man is suing the owners of an apartment building for injuries he allegedly suffered in a slip-and-fall incident two years ago.

Juan Curbelo filed a lawsuit on Jan. 11 in Cook County Circuit Court against Ludwig and Co., Ludwig and Co. Inc., Horizon Village Apartments, Horizon Village and Horizon Partners L.P., alleging premises liability.

According to the complaint, Curbelo slipped and fell on Jan. 9, 2014 on the defendant’s snowy sidewalk near 4205 Barberry Lane in Zion, Illinois. Although the sidewalk had been shoveled, the suit says an adjacent pile of snow partially melted and re-froze, creating the hazard that allegedly felled Curbelo as he traversed the icy path.

Curbelo seeks damages in excess of $50,000 for his pain and suffering, ongoing medical bills, and litigation costs. He is represented by Alberts Curran & Eiler P.C. in Chicago.
