Apartment dweller accuses Pangea Ventures of property neglect

Ceiling collapse

CHICAGO – A Cook County woman is suing her landlord, Pangea Ventures LLC, claiming the bedroom ceiling’s collapse caused her permanent injury.

Dashay Hawkins filed a lawsuit Jan. 14 in Cook County Circuit Court against Pangea Ventures, alleging premises liability.

According to the complaint, Hawkins was a tenant at Pangea’s apartment building in Chicago on Aug. 16, 2015, when the unit’s bedroom ceiling collapsed on her without warning. The suit claims the defendant is at fault for not fulfilling its duty to maintain the property in good condition.

Hawkins seeks damages of more than $30,000, plus legal expenses. She is represented by attorney Christopher J. Goril of Breen Goril Law in Chicago.
