CHICAGO—A Cook County man is suing a restaurant where he allegedly slipped and fell on a wet rug.

Arnold Rivers filed a lawsuit Jan. 15 in Cook County Circuit Court against The Original J&J Fish & Chicken Inc., alleging liability for personal injury.

According to the complaint, as Rivers dined at the establishment on Feb. 24, 2014, water from an employee mopping the floor ran under a floor mat. When Rivers attempted to walk across the wet mat, the suit says he slipped and fell, suffering unspecified permanent injuries.

Rivers seeks damages of more than $50,000, plus litigation expenses. He is represented by attorney Steven C. Armbruster of The Vrdolyak Law Group LLC in Chicago.
