Illinois man accuses nursing home of neglect, wrongful death

Medical neglect

CHICAGO – A Cook County man is suing a nursing home for alleged neglect and wrongful death of a 57-year-old resident.

Reynaldo Escobar, independent administrator of the estate of Lydia Escobar, filed a lawsuit Jan. 19 in Cook County Circuit Court against Glenshire Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre Ltd., doing business as Glenshire Nursing and Rehab Centre in Richton Park, alleging violations of the Nursing Home Care Act and Survival Act.

According to the complaint, Lydia Escobar was admitted to Glenshire on March 1, 2014. The suit says that during her residency at the nursing home, she developed several pressure ulcers and fell numerous times, allegedly due to staff negligence or lack of supervision. The suit claims the injuries hastened or contributed to her death on Sept. 28, 2015.

The plaintiff seeks a jury trial and damages in excess of $50,000. He is represented by attorney Kristen N. Koeller of the Law Offices of Steven J. Malman & Associates P.C. in Chicago.
