CHICAGO — A Cook County woman has filed a wrongful death suit against Blue Island Medical Group and one of its doctors, claiming their negligence led to her daughter’s death.

Juana Calvillo, independent administrator of the estate of Veronica Cisneros Calvillo, filed a lawsuit on Jan. 22 in Cook County Circuit Court against Blue Island Medical Group S.C. and Dr. Hector L. Flores-Arroyo, alleging medical malpractice.

According to the complaint, Veronica Cisneros Calvillo came to the defendant for treatment of an unspecified illness on Feb. 17, 2014. The suit says Flores-Arroyo failed to properly diagnose and treat her illness, neglecting to prescribe appropriate medication and prevent, monitor and treat cardiac arrest. As a result of the alleged negligence, the plaintiff claims Veronica Cisneros Calvillo died on Feb. 18, 2014.

Juana Calvillo seeks damages in excess of $50,000. She is represented by attorney Michael S. Shinsky and Erin R. Doyle of Kralovec, Jambois & Schwartz in Chicago.
