Suit claims nursing home's negligence led to injuries

1824

CHICAGO — A Cook County woman is suing the Elmwood Care nursing home, claiming that negligence caused her father’s injuries.

Angela Jones, independent administrator to collect of the estate of Leneal Jones, filed a lawsuit Jan. 27 in Cook County Circuit Court against Elmwood Care Inc., doing business as Elmwood Care, alleging personal injury liability under the Nursing Home Care Act.

According to the complaint, Leneal Jones was admitted to Elmwood in June 2014 for care and rehabilitation services. During his residency, he allegedly developed worsening pressure ulcers, causing deterioration in his overall physical and mental health. The suit claims Elmwood failed to properly train staff and provide equipment and remediation strategies to avoid Jones’s pressure ulcers.

Angela Jones seeks a six-person jury trial and damages in excess of $50,000. She is represented by attorney Kristen N. Koeller of the Law Offices of Steven J. Malman & Associates P.C. in Chicago.
