CHICAGO — A Cook County man says a security guard at Hyatt Regency McCormick Place allegedly punched him from behind, breaking his nose without provocation.

Lefter Tasho filed a lawsuit Jan. 21 in Cook County Circuit Court against Hyatt Corp., individually and doing business as Hyatt Regency McCormick Place, United Security Services Inc. and Ronald Griffin, alleging battery and negligent retention.

According to the complaint, while Tasho, a limousine driver, was loading hotel guests into a car on Sept. 29, 2015, Griffin approached from behind, punched him and broke his nose. Tasho says Hyatt and United Security services knew Griffin and other security staff were ex-police officers who had a history of previous altercations with other limo drivers, yet allowed them to continue working.

Tasho is seeking a jury trial and damages of more than $50,000, plus litigation costs. He is represented by attorney Edward R. Moor of Moor Law Office P.C. in Chicago.
