CHICAGO — A couple is suing a Skokie nursing home, alleging violations of the Illinois Nursing Home Care Act.

Maryam and Edward Ishu, individually and as co-attorneys for Hirmiz Khames, filed a lawsuit Jan. 28 in Cook County Circuit Court against Skokie Meadows Nursing Centers II LLC doing business as Cambridge Nursing and Rehab Center in Skokie, alleging improper care.

According to the suit, Khames was a resident at Cambridge from Aug. 6-Nov. 3, 2015. Khames developed through malnutrition and dehydration, the suit says, a very large stage IV pressure sore on his sacrum and both of his heels.

The lawsuit states this caused Khames to suffer illness, injury, great pain, discomfort and disfigurement. Khames has incurred costs associated with medical care related to his injuries, the suit says.

The Ishus are seeking damages of more than $50,000 and a jury trial. They are represented by attorneys Kenneth B. Graves of Graves Law Office in Springfield and Talbot C. Hoevel of Hoeval and Associates PC. in Chicago.
