CHICAGO — A Cook County woman has sued two Des Plaines dentists over allegations of medical malpractice, fraudulent concealment, intentional infliction of emotional distress and negligent infliction of emotional distress.
Jadwiga Nara, a senior citizen and resident of Cook County, filed a lawsuit Jan. 28 in Cook County Circuit Court against Marc A. Miller and Roman M. Dziubyk.
According to the lawsuit, on Aug. 20, 2012, Naras underwent a root canal procedure. After the surgery, Naras allegedly experienced continuous, agonizing pain, according to the suit, which goes on to allege that she reported this pain right after the surgery and at each of the 10 follow-ups over the next year. Both dentists assured Naras the pain would “go away,” the suit says.
When the pain went unresolved, Naras went to a different dentist, who purportedly found “a separated instrument” in her mesiobuccal canal and an overextension of filling in the palatal canal, the suit states. An expert opinion purportedly stated the treatment of Naras “fell below the accepted standard of care required of dentists in the State of Illinois,” according to the suit.
Naras had requested a jury trial and more than $50,000 in damages. She is represented by Nejla Lane of Lane Legal Services, of Chicago.
