Medical records

CHICAGO — A Cook County man claims that doctors at Advocate Health and Hospitals were negligent during his wife’s surgery, leading to her death.

Juan Rodriquez, special administrator of the estate of Herlinda Rodriquez, filed a lawsuit Feb. 1 in Cook County Circuit Court against Advocate Health and Hospitals Corp., Dr. George Bovis, Center of Brain and Spine Surgery S.C., Dr. John Ruge and Advocate Medical Group, alleging medical malpractice and wrongful death.

According to the complaint, Herlinda Rodriquez was under the defendants’ care from Jan. 19-30, 2014. The suit claims Bovis and Ruge committed several negligent acts, including misdiagnosis of Rodriquez’s condition, performing surgery when it was inappropriate and causing bleeding, which lead to Rodriquez’s death on Jan. 30, 2014.

Juan Rodriguez seeks damages in excess of $50,000. He is represented by the law firm of Hofeld and Schaffner in Chicago.
