CHICAGO — A Cook County man says his mother developed severe, debilitating wounds while a resident of the Alden-Town Manor nursing home.
Richard Bajorek Jr., administrator of the estate of Frances Dunka, filed a lawsuit Jan. 27 in Cook County Circuit Court against Alden-Town Manor Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, alleging violations of the Illinois Nursing Home Care Act.
According to the complaint, between Jan. 31 and March 26, 2014, Dunka was a resident of Alden-Town, receiving rehabilitation services. Although the suit says she had no injuries upon admission, Dunka later developed severe buttock wounds, including a Stage 2 pressure ulcer and perineal wound. Bajorek blames the wounds on Alden-Town staff, who allegedly failed to inspect and reposition his mother on a regular basis to avoid skin breakdown.
Bajorek seeks damages of more than $50,000, plus litigation costs. He is represented by attorney Samantha Sindles of Dudley & Lake LLC in Libertyville.
