CHICAGO – A Cook County woman is suing a nursing home for allegedly failing to protect her from a violent roommate.

Wilene Jones filed a lawsuit on Feb. 3 in Cook County Circuit Court against South Suburban Rehabilitation Center LLC and Central Street Management LLC, alleging negligence under the Nursing Home Care Act.

According to the complaint, Jones resided at South Suburban from Jan. 23, 2014 to Dec. 1, 2015, during which time she suffered fractures of the left hip and a left femur, and other injuries on separate occasions. The plaintiff claims the injuries were a result of abuse by her roommate at the facility.

Jones seeks damages in excess of $100,000 for medical expenses, pain and suffering, disability and disfigurement, and emotional trauma. She is represented by attorneys Craig L. Manchik and Lynne Plum Duffey of the Law Offices of Craig L. Manchik & Associates P.C. in Chicago.
