Chicago man alleges wrongful death against Des Plaines man

Crosswalk

CHICAGO — A Chicago man has filed suit, claiming his aunt died as a result of actions by a Des Plaines man.

Rod Subijano, as special administrator of the estate of deceased Sonia Dorado, filed a lawsuit Feb. 5 in Cook County Circuit Court against Robert Park, alleging negligence and wrongful death.

The suit states that on Dec. 12, 2010, Dorado was a pedestrian in the vicinity of Milwaukee Avenue and Oak Avenue in Niles when Park, driving a Plymouth Voyager northwest on Milwaukee Avenue near Oak Avenue, collided with Dorado.

The suit alleges Park was negligent in failing to maintain control of his vehicle, failing to keep a proper lookout, speeding, failing to yield the right-of-way to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, and other negligent acts or omissions.

As a result of the accident, Dorado suffered injuries that caused her subsequent death, the suit says.

Subijano seeks a judgment over $50,000, plus interest and costs. He is represented by attorney Michael E. Holden of Romanucci & Blandin in Chicago.
