CHICAGO — A Cook County woman says she suffered injuries from slipping on a snowy sidewalk at a Chicago Walgreens store, allegedly due to the store’s failure to clear the walkway for customer safety.
Barbara Rychtarczyk filed a lawsuit Feb. 9 in Cook County Circuit Court against Walgreen Co., doing business as Walgreens Store No. 3321, and Malori Midway LLC, alleging premises liability and negligence.
According to the complaint, as Rychtarczyk was shopping at the Walgreens at 5875 S. Archer Ave. on Feb. 11, 2014, she found the front walkway covered with a combination of snow, ice, slush, mud and other debris. Rychtarczyk says she fell on the walkway while exiting the store, suffering wounds to her knee and other areas. The lawsuit claims that although the front walkway appeared to have been salted, Walgreens neglected its duty to provide safe conditions to its patrons.
Rychtarczyk seeks damages in excess of $50,000. She is represented by attorney Paul Fine of the Law Office of Paul R. Fine in Chicago.
