Wife of deceased dialysis patient brings wrongful death suit

Head injury

CHICAGO — A Cook County woman is suing her husband’s dialysis providers in a case alleging medical malpractice.

Felicia Stanley, individually and as independent administrator of the estate of Toylee Stanley, filed a lawsuit Feb. 10 in Cook County Circuit Court against the following defendants: ISD Renal Inc. (formerly known as DSI Renal Inc., doing business as Evanston Renal Center), Davita Kidney Care, Davita Healthcare Partners Inc., Davita RX LLC, Davita Inc., Davita Accountable Care Solutions LLC, Kidney Care Services LLC, and registered nurse January Imbuido.

According to the complaint, Toylee Stanley was receiving dialysis at Davita Evanston Renal Center on Nov. 11, 2014, when he fell and suffered a traumatic brain injury that led to his death on Nov. 13, 2014. The suit says Imbuido should have known Stanley was at risk for falls after his treatment, especially since he had suffered from whole-body tremors the day of the incident.

Felicia Stanley seeks damages in excess of $50,000. She is represented by attorney Jennifer P. Irmen of Blair Caravelli Irmen Law LLC in Chicago.
