Woman's suit alleges negligence in drug administration

CHICAGO — A Kane County woman is suing health-care providers, alleging that negligence caused her to fall and incur an injury.

Catherine Groenwald is suing Delnor-Community Hospital, doing business as Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital, and Kristina Bennett, R.N.

The plaintiff filed suit on Feb. 5 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging that the defendants knowingly violated standards regarding the administration of an intravenous injection of morphine sulfate.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that, on Feb. 8,, she was not feeling well after receiving morphine for pain, becoming lightheaded that caused her fell over the floor. The plaintiff holds Delnor-Community Hospital d/b/a Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital and Kristina Bennett, R.N. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to safely administer the acceptable standards in giving morphine sulfate to its patient by providing counsel about the potential effects that includes orthostatic hypotension, dizziness and lightheadedness..

The plaintiff seeks the following: compensation for an amount in excess of Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50,000.00). She is represented by Ray Gupta of Ray Gupta & Associates, LLC in Chicago in Illinois.
