Pair sue neighborhood resident in alleged shooting

CHICAGO — A woman and man from Cicero are suing a fellow neighborhood resident, alleging the defendant shot both plaintiffs.

David Fernandez and Vanessa Vargas are suing Edward Wiencek, citing alleged assault and battery, plus negligence.

The plaintiffs filed suit on Feb. 22 in Cook County Circuit Court. Fernandez and Vargas allege that on Feb. 1, they were on the front stoop of a home in Cicero when Wiencek shot both of them with a handgun.

The plaintiffs seek the following: compensation for costs and other remedies in the excess of $100,000. They are represented by Peter M. Delongis and Paul DeLuca of The Law Offices of Peter M. Delongis, Ltd. in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois.
