COOK COUNTY – A disabled person is suing a nursing home and her doctor over allegedly negligent care.
Lisa A. Cascarano, through her guardian Carroll Meier (Yarnell), filed a complaint on Feb. 24 in Cook County Circuit Court against All American Nursing Home Inc., Zikainim Inc. and Dr. Bharat Shah, citing alleged negligence that resulting in an injury.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that, in April 2015, she descended into diabetic ketoacidosis while under the defendant's care.
According to the suit, the defendants carelessly and negligently attended to the plaintiff, failed to supervise and control its employees charged with caring for the patient, failed to monitor the plaintiff's medical condition, failed to diagnose or treat pressure sores, failed to follow-up on her diabetic condition, carelessly and negligently allowed the patient to descend into diabetic ketoacidosis, and failed to recognize changes in the patient's condition.
The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly failed, through negligence and carelessness, to diagnose the plaintiff and treat her with standard care.
The plaintiff seeks the following: compensation for costs of the suit and a sum in excess of $50,000 from each defendant. She is represented by Edward M. Rubin of Rubin, Machado, & Rosenblum LTD in Chicago.
